Case Study: Beer Beach Matting
Supported by the Access for All Fund

In 2025 – 2026 the Access for All Fund provided a grant to East Devon District Council to purchase 120 metres of beach matting enabling beach goers and sailors to walk on the pebbles much more easily, especially when using sea going equipment.

This matting will be installed in the Spring on 2026 for all to enjoy.

East Devon District Council wanted to improve access on the beach for all. The current matting was old and in disrepair.

Total Project Cost: £12,000

Access for All Grant Awarded: £10,464 (87% of total project)

Cash Match: £1536 (from the sailing club)

Plus East Devon District Council will be providing in kind time to install.

A total of 120 metres of beach matting was purchased which East Devon District Council will install.
