East Devon National Landscape Fund

Do you have an idea that will make a positive difference to the landscape, wildlife, history and communities of the East Devon National Landscape?

This fund is here to help you turn that idea into action. For many years, this fund has provided crucial support, empowering individuals, community groups, and businesses to play their part in protecting, enhancing and celebrating this cherished part of the UK.

Frequently asked questions:

The Fund is designed to facilitate work that delivers the core objectives of the East Devon National Landscape Management Plan

We welcome a wide range of applications, for example projects may:

Support nature, wildlife and its diversity

Raise awareness and encourage engagement in the environment

Improve access, restore or enhance village features, facilities or networks

Develop heritage/cultural features or events and celebrate local communities.

Projects, or applicants, don’t need to be within the East Devon National Landscape boundary but must benefit the area and meet the aims of the fund.

The maximum grant that can be applied for is £4000

No, for all projects applying to the fund a ‘percentage contribution’ is required. The grant can provide up to 60% of the total project costs. For example, if the total cash cost of the project is £1000, our maximum grant would be £600.

10% of total project costs should be made up of cash match. Using the same example as above, this means the remaining £400 should be made up of at least £100 from cash contribution and the remaining from in kind support such as volunteers/free use of machinery/venues etc.

An example budget would look like:

  • £1000 total cost funded by:
  • £600 grant from EDNL Fund
  • £100 cash contribution e.g from reserve funds
  • £300 in kind contribution e.g from volunteering time.

We announce the opening of the fund in early spring (usually early April and award funds by June each year).

It’s the people living and working in the East Devon National Landscape that know it best! It’s great to see people’s passion to make a difference supported through this fund. I’m incredibly proud to support the action of local people making this landscape a great place for people and nature to thrive.”
