This project has created permissive access over Mikelyns Farm in Farway, providing over 2.1 km of access onto otherwise private land. The views afforded by these paths are unique and truly breathtaking.
The route is fitted with 2-in-1 gates to ensure access for as many people as possible to enjoy the countryside. These gates make the route available to people with knee and joint problems who cannot manage traditional stiles.
The three sections of path link up to the Rights of Way network facilitating longer walks as well as a shorter circular walk. They provide access to interesting habitats on the farm which has two County Wildlife Sites, and it passes through a traditional orchard, which has had replacement apple trees planted.
As part of the promotion and enjoyment of the route a leaflet was produced.
The permissive footpath encompasses parts of Appledore Farm and Poltimore, taking in farmland, woodland, springline, mire and a traditional orchard.
You are invited to walk through the farm to enjoy this beautiful part of the East Devon National Landscape.
