Rising steeply above the village of Sidbury, Fire Beacon Hill is a nature reserve that offers some of the most dramatic inland views in the East Devon National Landscape. Managed jointly by the RSPB and East Devon District Council, this lowland heathland site provides a great escape.

Ever wondered where it got its name from?

The hill’s name harks back to its history as part of a national chain of beacons used to signal the approach of the Spanish Armada in 1588.
