Starting in Dover and following a coastal route, it enters East Devon at Axminster and travelling through towns/villages of Colyton, Seaton, Branscombe, Sidmouth, Budleigh Salterton and Exmouth then follows the Exe Estuary through into South Devon and all the way to St Austel.

This route is mostly on quieter roads but there is a nice traffic free section on a former railway between Budleigh Salterton and Exmouth.

The route is well waymarked.
